Louis Henderson & João Polido

The focus of Louis Henderson’s work is the questioning of capitalism’s essentially racist tenets in the context of globalization and colonial history. Based on archival materials (sound, text and image), he develops cinematic narratives and installations during lengthy periods of research on location. His work conveys complex narratives employing materials of various origins which are cinematically interwoven. For Ruhr Ding, Louis Henderson has developed a sound installation and several radio broadcasts together with João Polido. To this end, his field research explores to what extent the history of the region’s music has been influenced by industrialization, whilst locating these materials in the context of other former industrial regions. Louis Henderson [born 1983] lives in Berlin and Paris. João Polido [born 1994] lives in Berlin.
